theterrorofdeath: (as we all fly away)

You can pretend the character is 1) sitting in front of a random person and answering the questions verbally to them; 2) taking a written interview and the character is writing their answers; or 3) modify the question so that they're more like a conversation topic rather than strict interview.

REMEMBER! The questions are designed to help portray the character's VOICE. We are interested in hearing how the character "speaks" and will be looking to see their personality in how they answer the questions. The answers should be how the CHARACTER answers, not what they would really do. That is, if they would lie, have them lie. Just make an OOC note that they are indeed lying on that question.)

1.- Do you stand up against authority, go against all odds, and if you could, pierce the heavens with your fighting spirit? If not, would you if you could?
Okay the last part is really weird, like something out of a corny tv show. Who's coming up with these? Anyway-- if it doesn't make sense, then I don't really care what people think. I don't really have much of a problem going against what other people think is the right way, I'll go with my own way. It's not like I'm talking about breaking the law and going to jail though. These are a little extreme..

2- What is more important to you: having friends or living on your own? Why?
I used to think it was the second one, but I guess I ended up changing a lot. I'm stronger because I have my friends around me. So..uh..I guess the first one.

3- Am I asking too many personal or strange questions?
Uh, hell yeah. How is this any of your business?

4- Oh look, there's a double rainbow!
[Haseo looked up at the shout and raised an eyebrow before scratching the back of his head.  ]
Huh, well that's something, I guess.

5- Would you prefer being the stalker, or the one being stalked? And what would you do?
I'd prefer neither, obviously. And if they think they can just stalk me like some sort of creep you can think again.

6- What disgusts you the most?
Not being strong enough to protect people I care about.

[Personality]
From the three volumes Haseo undergoes a lot of changes emotionally in regards to his personality. In the beginning we have a guy who is extremely motivated to the point of obsession to find a way to avenge his friend's fate in an online video game. To this end Haseo is essentially a huge jerk. Unlike most players who want to make friends or be sociable while playing, Haseo doesn't look at it as a game anymore. It's a walking contradiction and he's determined to find out what makes The World do what it does, and why he lost his friend. All he does is spend his time levelling up, and when people do reach out to him, Haseo is pretty rude in the start. He starts out as unsociable, and plain uninterested. It's due to the persistence of the people that do reach out to him that Haseo slowly begins to unravel his somewhat prickly nature and show feelings. He shows that there is more to the cold and ambitious 'Terror of Death' that everyone in The World sees.

In the beginning Haseo literally didn't really care because he was blinded by notions of revenge, and in that sense, didn't feel he could have time for it. It was only when he met Silabus, Gaspard and Atoli that he realized he actually had people around that weren't that bad. Of course he called them names, was generally rude to them, but he tolerated their presence. When Atoli is attacked by AIDA Haseo shows even more signs that beneath his sour expression and cold nature, that he does care. He reaches out for her, he blames himself for being unable to protect her. He even shows signs of jealousy when Atoli does return to the game and shows reliance not on Haseo, who she seems to have a crush on, but Sakaki. So while in the beginning most of it is just Haseo hardened by his loss, a lot of it is people actually reaching out to him first.

And the more Haseo finds himself unraveling the mystery of not just Shino's 'death' but the World's abnormalities, he realizes the situation is so much more serious than he thought. Which leads to him getting agitated and weighed down the closer he finds himself growing to his friends. When he partakes in an event that raises his level up, the happy chattering of his friends who came along with him angers him so much that he takes off without them.

Here in the middle of the trilogy Haseo comes to a realization. The reason he didn't want people around, not just because he thought it would drag him down, but because if he didn't have anyone he wouldn't have to 'bear the pain of losing them'. In a way Haseo was not only trying to protect his friends by keeping them at arm's length, but protecting himself because he was still raw over losing Shino. He's by no means as warm as the first .Hack protagonist, Kite, but just as he was, Haseo is willing to do everything he can to protect his friends, even if it means pushing them away.

Haseo is obviously very stubborn. He likes doing things on his own for the most part if he can help it, and he likes doing it his own way. When on the concept of Avatars and limiting themselves, Haseo snaps back to Kuhn, a more experienced Avatar-user, that if he can get power by using his Avatar, then he will use it and he doesn't care who gets in his way. This backfires horribly when he almost kills Kuhn in a fight when his Avatar awakens, and while Haseo doesn't change his method of doing things the way he knows how, he does regret and shows signs of being far more considerate to the people around him. He actually turns out to be a real leader in the fact that he does trust his instincts and judgement, and he often shows some pretty rational decisions.

Haseo is also pretty awkward with people. He's shown to scratch the back of his head a lot and not just when he's thinking. When faced with awkward situations he will usually comment on, 'I guess I'll check my email or something'  or say often rude, weird things in exchange for what he really means to say. He often shows this the most with Atoli, a prime example being when she broke down after the Moon Tree incident. Instead of comforting her, Haseo slaps her PC and firmly lectures her on how to own to her responsibilities. He does this not just because it's what he's striving to do, and shows he actually is somewhat empathetic, but because he is essentially still awkward. He gets right to the point, and is pretty blunt about it. However, after he lectures her, he gently asks afterwards, "Am I being too harsh?" In a way his harsh way of getting his point across can be good at times, because of his experience and his steadily growing maturity, he starts actually saying things he means to say, things like 'Thank you' and 'I'm sorry'. Things he couldn't do so easily before.

By the third game, Haseo realizes that it's okay to rely on your friends, and that being close to them won't hurt him any more or any less. After the last two volumes in the game series he has lost friends, gained friends and gone through various trials that not only made him change because he needed others to get information from (therefore getting unexpected friendships) but also a motivation that was a lot more pronounced, not just mindless revenge. He had a reason and that was to protect his friends not just coldly avenge them and use power to frighten and intimidate players. After all, beneath all that hard, still somewhat prickly exterior is a much kinder, much more compassionate teenager who really cares about his friends though he's learning how to show it. Haseo's leadership is not just based on his strength but also on the fact that his friends believed in his kindness though he tried hard to hide it, which is why Silabus and Gaspard trusted him to be their Guild Master. They knew Haseo was just hiding. Of course, he still gets annoyed by his friends, still is awkward and blunt but he smiles far more often than not and after it's all said and done Haseo finds his answers, saves his friends and gains a new self, and a far stronger one. That's not something he could have done if he hadn't let himself trust in friendship again.
[Abilities]
So Haseo has essentially four forms in the game as he levels up. Each time he does, since his character class allows this ability, he keeps the weapons and skills that he learned with them as he levels up! So basically he's kind of a walking armory here.

1. His first form allowed the weapons Twin Blades, which are good for cutting short slashes and various skills on monsters in his online game, but even more useful for what Somarium has in store for him. There is a list of various kinds of attacks he can make with this but essentially they are just fast, quick weapons to move fast with.

2. His second form he carries a huge broadsword bigger than his own body. He moves slower, but the skill is in raising it over his head and being able to cause impacts to the ground when the sword hits. Of course against fast enemies this could be dangerous! Essentially they are just slow, very powerful attacks!

3. Third form Haseo has a scythe, which he can use with decent speed and wide-ranged attacks that sweep a multitude of enemies with each slash.

4. Xth form- Haseo's final form, which comes with dual gunblades. Essentially he can shoot with them and on the ends of the weapons are blades that he can use to slash and hit when he can get a bonus attack in.

Skeith: Haseo's Avatar, and a pretty formidable one. In the game it's capable of draining the data information from infected bugs called AIDA in the World and also stealing the powers of the other Avatars, often in fights where they became infected. Ironically Skeith is also called 'The Terror of Death'. He would only lose control of it if he let his emotions rule him completely or something snapped in him, otherwise he has control over it.

ALL HIS ABILITIES I'M TOTALLY UP FOR NERFING TO SOME EXTENT IF NEED BE. HE IS KIND OF A WALKING ARMORY YOU KNOW? c:

(ALL HIS WEAPONS ARE ON HIS PROFILE IMAGE. C: )

[Other important stuff]

Like Atoli and Sakubo, Haseo has an Avatar named Skeith. The details are in his wiki and I'm wondering how we can work on that. Because let's admit it'd be neat if he somehow turned into an internet monster during his stay at Somarium again.

Also he's coming back with all his memories. 8)

[Sample post]
[First Person]

[there is a pair of familiar or not so familiar red eyes blinking into the screen.]

Huh. So..I guess I"m back, then.
[it zooms back and the boy is looking at the device with annoyance, shaking his head]
Even the dreamberry looks the same..geez..nothing really changes here, does it? Give me a break.
[he pauses, scratcches the back of his head awkwardly and glances away before back at the screen.]
So..any of you guys still here? Silabus? Bo? ..Atoli?

[he sighs loudly before putting a hand on his hip]
Well, guess I'll just have to look around all over again...If you were just going to bring me back did we have to go through this whole thing again? I'm never going to understand this place..
[and click]
[Third Person]

Haseo hadn't expected to come back here again. And much less actually know where he was. Staring at the streets of Espoir he couldn't help but sigh a little, a hand going to rake through his hair. Once again he was stuck in his PC body. "I could use a little head's up next time, Somarium. " He muttered, grunting in annoyance as he felt a familiar presence in his pocket.

Ah yes, the Dreamberry. He ran his thumb over the scrolling feature to where he could see the names of those still dreaming. He wondered if  there was anyone he knew. I don't want them to be here, it's not always safe. It'd be better if Atoli, Sakubo and Silabus all went home. I'm used to crazy stuff like this, after all.

While he felt this in his heart, that didn't change the slowly creeping smile that grew on his face as he saw the names: Atoli and Sakubo appear when he stopped scrolling at the sight of them. He sighed a bit exasperatedly, annoyed and relieved all at once.
"You idiots. You better not be here waiting for me. " Haseo said quietly, but that warm feeling in his chest, at knowing he wasn't alone..well, it stayed despite what he knew was best.

"You guys better have stayed out of trouble...guess I'll start looking around. I wonder if my apartment is still around.." Slipping the dreamberry into his pocket, Haseo began his customary exploring around Espoir. At least if they were here, he'd just do the same thing he'd done last time. Protect the ones that remained and look after any who showed up. Sakubo shouldn't be without his 'big bro' looking after him. And Atoli, well...he scratched the back of his head.

He'd figure that stuff out when he got to it.

"I've got a lot of time now. Man, this place never changes.."

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Haseo is one of the ones I've played here longest and had the most CR with, and because I sort of failed on my castmates I'd like to give it another shot and get more involved! C:
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] I think they all make sense to me, so not really any in particular? All the silly ones.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] Many moons ago..
[Any questions?]
